How to connect a Beats Pill XL to the iPad 3

These instructions show you how to connect to Beats Pill XL speakers to the iPad 3. Please note that these instructions refer to the Beats Pill XL and not the smaller Beats Pill speakers, visit the Beats page on WikiConnections.org for the full range of Beats speakers. Before you connect Beats Pill XL speakers to anything we recommend downloading the latest Beats Pill XL firmware update from the Beats Pill XL official support site [1] using the Beats updater tool. These instructions assume that you are running Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPad 3.

Instructions on how to charge the iPad 3 from a Beats Pill XL using the Apple Lightning cable.

  1. In order to charge the iPad 3 from a Beats Pill XL you'll need a USB to Apple 30 pin cable [4].
  2. Plug one end of the USB to Apple 30 pin cable into the Beats Pill XL. Turn the Beats Pill XL speaker so the back is facing you. Uncover the USB port by pulling and then rotating the rubber port cover which is found to the left of the 'beats pill xl' logo. The USB port is located next to the hinge of the cover.
  3. Connect the other end of the USB to Apple 30 pin cable into the dock connector on the iPad 3. The iPad 3 dock connector can be found at the bottom of the iPad 3.
  4. Turn on the Beats Pill XL and the iPad 3 will begin to charge.
  5. If you tap the power button you can check the battery Fuel Gauge, when all 5 lights on the Fuel Gauge glow then your Pill XL is fully charged. The Beats Pill XL has around 15 hours of battery life on a full charge however this is likely to be shorter depending on the device that you are charging.   6. The battery icon that you'll find in the top right corner of the tablet screen will display a charging icon to indicate that the iPad is powering up and takes roughly 1 to 4 hours to completely recharge to full capacity. [AD]
