How to connect the iPhone 3G to the Jabra Solemate Max

These instructions assume that you are running Apple iOS 4 or greater on the iPhone 3G. Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

Pairing the Jabra Solemate Max to the iPhone 3G using Bluetooth

  1. The following instructions describe how to pair the Jabra Solemate Max with the iPhone 3G. On the right hand side of the Jabra Solemate Max locate the power button, there are three settings - off, on and bluetooth. Starting from the off position slide the power switch all the way to the top and hold until the indicator light starts flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. On the home screen of the phone open Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and make sure the Bluetooth option is turned on.
  3. Underneath select Jabra Solemate Max from the list of nearby devices to pair with the iPhone, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPhone 3G are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application which can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate Max. In future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the iPhone 3G without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  5. As long as you do not pair the jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPhone 3G.

Connecting the Jabra Solemate Max from the iPhone 3G using a stereo cable

Learn the correct cable to use to connect the iPhone 3G to the Jabra Solemate Max.

  1. These instructions show you how to hook up the iPhone 3G to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play music. First locate the headphone socket at the top left of the iPhone.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This can be located on the right of the speaker above the USB port.
  3. Connect the headphone socket on the iPhone 3G to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. Any sounds from the iPhone 3G will stop playing on the phone speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate Max instead.
  5. When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from the iPhone 3G. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPhone 3G are now connected and can to be used to play audio.
