These instructions assume you are running Apple iOS 6 or greater on the iPhone 3GS. Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

  1. The following instructions describe how to pair the Jabra Solemate Max with the iPhone 3GS. On the right hand side of the speaker locate the power slider, there are 3 settings - off, on and bluetooth. From the off position slide up the power switch all the way to the top and hold it until the indicator light turns flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. From the home screen on the phone open Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and turn on the Bluetooth option.
  3. Underneath select Jabra Solemate Max from the list of nearby devices to connect to the iPhone, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPhone 3GS are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application which can play audio will bring up a list of devices where you'll be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate Max. In future you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the iPhone 3GS without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  5. As long as you don't pair the jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPhone 3GS.

  1. These instructions show you how to hook up the iPhone 3GS to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play music. First locate the headphone socket on the top of the iPhone 3GS.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This can be located on the right of the speaker between the power switch and the USB port.
  3. Connect the headphone socket on the iPhone 3GS to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. Any audio from the iPhone 3GS will stop playing on the phone speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate Max instead.
  5. When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from the iPhone 3GS. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPhone 3GS are now connected and ready to be used to play audio.
