These instructions assume that you have installed Apple iOS 7 or greater on the iPhone 4. Ensure you have version 1.27 or greater of the Jabra Solemate Max firmware, visit the official Jabra Solemate Max support site [2] to download the latest version. You can switch off the default 'Solemate is connected' announcements by holding down the Volume down button when turning on the Jabra Solemate Max until you hear 'Sound prompts off'.

  1. The following instructions describe how to pair the Jabra Solemate Max with the iPhone 4. On the right hand side of the Jabra Solemate Max locate the power button, there are three settings - off, on and bluetooth. From the off position slide the power switch all the way to the top and hold until the indicator light starts flashing blue and you hear the announcement "Go ahead and connect me, use the Bluetooth setting on your phone".
  2. On the home screen of the phone open the Settings control panel, then go to the Bluetooth menu and make sure the Bluetooth option is turned on.
  3. Underneath select Jabra Solemate Max from the list of nearby devices to pair with the iPhone, it will then say "Paired" next to the name of the device.
  4. The Jabra Solemate Max and the iPhone 4 are paired and ready to be used to play music. Tapping on the AirPlay icon in any iOS application that plays audio will bring up a list of devices where you will be able to toggle between headphones, the loudspeaker and the Jabra Solemate Max. Next time you can turn on the Jabra Solemate Max and it will automatically connect to the iPhone 4 without needing to pair again, just turn both devices on and wait for the "Solemate is connected" announcement.
  5. As long as you do not pair the jabra with any other devices this will continue to automatically connect to the iPhone 4.

  1. These instructions show you how to connect the iPhone 4 to the Jabra Solemate Max using a cable to play music. First locate the headphone socket on the top of the iPhone 4.
  2. With the speaker turned off locate the line in port on the Jabra Solemate Max. This is located on the right of the speaker between the power switch and the USB port.
  3. Connect the headphone socket on the iPhone 4 to the line in on the Jabra Solemate Max port using a 3.5mm stereo male to 3.5mm stereo male cable [3].
  4. Any audio from the iPhone 4 will stop playing on the phone speaker and play on the Jabra Solemate Max instead.
  5. When the line in port is used the Bluetooth facility will be disabled, you'll hear a "Bluetooth off" announcement and you'll only be able to listen to audio from the iPhone 4. You can now play audio on the Jabra Solemate Max from the iPhone 4.
